Welcome to this world Caleb
A home birth story.
On the evening of the 19th day of December 2023 I was gifted with the most peculiar and unique experience of witnessing the birth of my nephew Caleb. The words are still shy as I write this post. I am still integrating this miracle and this experience into myself and my own life. I'll try to make it the best justice possible.
I feel very honoured and privileged for having the opportunity to be present in the same space of my sister as she goes through the intense waves of labor. Being in my very late 20ties I just start to itch this primal side of my feminine nature that wants to have children one day.
I often speak about the idea of balance as a very abstract construct that only start existing when we experience the extremes at certain levels. Then we scratch a blury understanding of what the middle would be.
As a young women I realise how uneducated and naive I am about motherhood and maternity. The image we grow up integrating and believing in is quite narrow and terrifying to say the least. There is no freedom of choice nowadays when we think about having children. The whole process of conception, pregnancy and labor is taboo and too little celebrated, even more little documented.
What I saw was quite mindblowingly empowering and restored in my heart a lot of faith in humanity haha. I saw real couple connection, genuine and clear communication, real preparation and planning, deep commitment and real strength - the strenght that is grounded and compassionate. Power and Union. Vulnerability and Care. Humbleness and true Humility in front of the so very raw act of opening oneself and let space for life itself to emerges from one's body. I'm in AWE.
